Stopping biting in a Rainbow Lorikeet

by Bree
(Queensland, Australia)

Hi There,
My young (we think) Lorikeet has taken to biting, all the time. He's not abused, hes generally a pretty happy birdy but he won't stop biting our hands regardless of what we are doing.
This is driving us nuts and starting to make us not really like him.
Any suggestions on how to stop this??

My rainbow lorikeet bites my wife on the lips very badly but he doesn't bite me at all! I want to know why he is doing that !

Editor's note: The bird prefers you, and you can help train the bird to not bite your wife. Please read the articles on our Parrot Training page for help with training your bird to stop biting.

Please read the articles on our Parrot Training page for help with training your bird to stop biting.

If your bird has a preferred person in the home, that it doesn't nip at much, then that person should be the person to start training it to stop nipping other people. Please read the biting green cheek conure article on the Parrot Training page linked above to see how we helped our birds stop biting me.
