Strange Sound.

by Najeeb
(India ; Hyderabad)

Hi i have an Alexandarine parakeet couple, today i fed them with tomatoes they ate it very anxiously and after four hours of eating they started making strange sounds like something is strucked in their vocal but by their behaviour everything was good they are sharp as usual. Is it normal or something is wrong with them.Is it happening because i gave them tomatoes to eat? Please answer it.

Tomatoes not toxic for parrots
by: The Avian Vet

Tomatoes are not toxic to birds and should not cause a problem. However, feed treats in moderation; four hours of eating only tomatoes is not the best way to feed parrots. Make sure they eat at least 80% pellets, and treats should be 20% of the diet. I don?t think the tomatoes caused the problem, but if your birds are making abnormal noises that cannot be explained, then they need to be seen by an avian veterinarian.
