Stressed Ecelectus parrot

My 10 year old male parrot was stolen, but after 6 months of neglect has been returned. he is to say, not the same bird but has the affection he did towards me, however he is still trying to mate with me and regurgitates his food. He has fruit and nut mix during the day and fresh vegies/fruit at night, which if he doesn't like throws out of his bowl. But he is still throwing up his food and re-eating it as if mating and it has been nearly 6 months since his return.
Consequently his feather growth has been limited even though I have been spraying him with Aloe spray to stop the itching/ he scratches a lot.

I am concerned that he is not getting his nutrients and the fact that he still scratches quite a bit.

Any suggestions on what I can try.

Bird with feather and eating issues
by: Tracie

If you have not taken the bird to an avian vet, that is the first step. You need to determine if the bird has any health issues.

Our avian vet says, "Eclectus do better on about 65-70% pellets and 30-35% fresh vegetables and other healthy treats." And he suggests Harrison's pellets.

Feeding a high quality pellet diet is best, along with fresh fruits and veggies, because that is the only way to know the bird is getting all it's nutrition. Then make sure the fruits and veggies are organic.

Please use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be.
