My four year old blue and gold has suddenly become very aggressive when I try to get him out of his cage. Not his typical self at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

sudden aggresion and not wanting to come out of cage

Barbara, unfortunately this can be caused by many things. First, before anything else, have him examined by an Avian Vet ONLY in your driving area. Any sudden changes in behavior points to a possible physical cause. It is good to take birds into avian vet once a year for a well bird checkup to catch infections or other problems before they take hold. So, take your bird only to an avian vet because they are the only ones licensed and trained in bird and other exotic animal care. Dog and cat vets are not even supposed to look at birds, but they continue to do so and cannot make a correct diagnosis and give all kinds of harmful drugs in the wrong dosages making problems much worse.

Get back with us here after your bird has been seen by an Avian Vet, and we can go from there.
