Sudden death.

by Christine Robbins
(Stoke-on-Trent. UK)

My son's green-cheek conure died suddenly two days ago. There were no symptoms of illness he just died in front of his eyes. The bird was almost two years old. Any ideas as to why this happened? My son and his partner adored him and are very upset.

Conure suddenly died
by: Tracie

I am sorry your dear friend died. Unfortunately there are many, many things that could have caused this. The only way anyone could tell you what caused the bird's death, is if you take it for a necropsy.

I suspect that it was either something airborne or something toxic the bird ate or licked, like a toy with zinc in it. Air fresheners, Teflon irons and other items with Teflon have toxic fumes that will kill birds too.
