Suggest activities, games, or toys could I buy my cockatiel?

My Cockatiel, Tiki, seems to get afraid of his toys, is that common for this kind of bird? What games can I play with him that won't make him lose my trust, or make him get mad at me? What can I do about the biting?

toys for Cockatiel

Hi Christina,

Usually birds will adjust to a toy after a day or two. Just don't put the toy near the food or water dish so that he will continue to eat and drink.

If the bird is really scared of everything, you can play with the toy yourself for several days outside of the cage with him watching. Sometimes that helps with birds.

Different birds like different toys. Most birds like toys they can beat up and shred. Some birds like toys that make noise and some like wood to chew. You have to experiment to find out what your bird likes.

We have an article you can read about biting. Click on the button on the left of this page that reads "Parrot Training."
