Sun Conure acting strangly after a trip to the vet.

by Tiffany Alas
(Schenectady, NY)

I brought my new Sun Conure to the vet yesterday, since then she has been acting strangly. She has been with us for 1 week, and she seemed to be doing fine. Today she is hiding in the corner of the cage, with her head backwards making funny chattering sounds constantly. She is normally content in playing and getting attention. What could be wrong?

Bird acting different after vet visit
by: The Avian Vet

This is abnormal behavior. IT may be stress related but that should last only a few minutes. Move her to a hospital cage and use a heating pad to warm her to 90 degrees. Then contact your avian veterinarian to see what the results of the tests ere and maybe they can explain what is going on with her.

Sun Conure acting strangly after a trip to the vet.
by: Linda

You need to call the Avian Vet back as soon as possible and tell them how she is acting. You did not say what all they did, so don't know about that. Call them and tell them how she is and see what they say because there are too many unanswered questions for us to be able to tell you anything. All I do know is birds are usually tired after a trip to the vet, but get back to normal in a short period of time.

Thanks for writing,
Linda
