Sun conure biting

Petey when he was 3 months old

I have an 19 month old sun conure named Petey. He has been the most wonderful pet I have ever had the pleasure of owning.
Petey has reached sexual maturity, and one of his behavior changes is that he is biting. I still get to enjoy the loving boy that he truly is, just not as often as before.
I know this is a phase and one that can last a very long time.

What i would like to know is if there is specific ways to deal with his biting. Any suggestion would be gratefully appreciated. I want to be sure I handle this situation properly.

Thank you

My sunday Bella is 9 months. She is like a puppy...always chewing. I just remove her beak and tell her "No bite" If she doesn't stop, I put her on her cage for a time out. She is getting better. Hope this helps....

Conure biting problem

Since Dr B is not a bird trainer, I am going to direct you to our Parrot Training page. We have a few articles that might help you replace the unwanted behavior with a more acceptable behavior.

Patience is certainly the key, and it sounds like you are doing your best to have patience. Your good attitude toward the bird will be in you favor. People that lash out at their birds usually lose the bird's trust and sometimes for good.

Hopefully others that have gone through this will add to the information you will read in our other articles. I wish you the best.
