sun conure exessivly regeritating

Last week we bought a 3 year old sun conure, he shows a few issues but I think with patience we will be able to handle him. But what really has me wondering, he is "feeding" everything, from perches, his little house, the cage itself, the recliner and so on, he brings it out and eats most of it right away himslf. His cage looks pretty bad each day. The only time he is not doing it, is when he sits on a shoulder.

I read somewhere that this means, he is ready for babies, do we need to get him a girl friend? We really didn't plan on a conure family (but I guess we could get used to the thought if need to, we already have a flock of parakeets and cockatiels (not breeding either, only adopted unwanted birds) Any help on this would be greatly appreciated

Thank you Uschi

Please read this carefully and understand. Your bird is very sick and needs to be taken to an Avian(bird) Vet in your driving area right now.

The kind of vomiting you describe is NOT normal in any way. This is a symptom of being very ill, and bird has to be diagnosed and treated by an Avian Vet ONLY. Do NOT give any over the counter meds as you don't know what is wrong, so cannot treat it.

We suggest ALL new birds be examined by an avian vet during the first week of being in our homes because most birds coming from pet stores are already sick either from the breeder's facility or from contact with strange birds and people in the pet store.

Your bird is very sick, and will die if not taken into avian vet for medical treatment.
