egg laying
by: Anonymous

I had a similar problem with my sun conure & phoned my vet to get advice. He advised to give her 3 days, if she does not lay in that time she needs to go in to see him. She did lay on the 3rd. She is currently sitting on her eggs & fine, is given extra nutrition (eggs & shells), on pellets etc.... She will be taken to the vet after she's finished with her eggs. The vet also told me that lack of nutrition is NOT the only reason for egg binding. There are other reasons for it. So don't presume it is nutrition. Even if your sun conure lays the egg & seems OK, you should still take her to an avian vet & find out why she had problems in the first place.

Bird egg bound
by: Tracie

You need to Find an Avian Vet for your bird right away, or she will die.

This is caused by a lack of proper nutrition. Please read our Switching Birds To Pellets article and switch your bird to Harrison's after you have seen the avian vet. Birds eating 80% Harrison's do not get egg bound.
