Fighting

Cage size can be an issue. Make sure you have a large enough cage where both birds can "go to their corners" and cool off and make sure there are multiple feed and water dishes and toys. Two birds require more than twice the room of one.

The other thing I highly recommend is to take both into see an Avian Vet in your area as sometimes when one is becoming ill, the other will start attacking. Birds are wild animals, and flock behavior dictates that any sick or injured flock members be either driven from the flock or killed outright. So take both to vet to check for any bacterial infections or parasites in case this is the problem. Both birds need to be checked as bacterial infections are highly contageous.

So we are looking very hard at cage size, multiple food and water dishes and toys. We are also looking at possibility of illness being a factor. If, after you have taken them to vet, enlarged cage if you need to, and they still fight, put them in two separate cages and allow them play time together. My very bonded Amazon couple cannot be caged together because of fighting and plucking. They've been together for 20 years, so fighting can start anytime for any reason.

Keep us posted on how everything goes and thanks for writing,
Linda
