Swelling in neck area in a lovebird

My lovebird is 18 years old and lately he has taken some falls from my shoulder. I noticed he has some swelling right above his breast bone in the neck area and he has lost a lot of weight. He has fallen from my shoulder because he'll lose his footing. Why is it swollen? What could be wrong with him and can it be cured?
