Tail bobbing and fast breathing.

by Alex
(London)

I have noticed that of a mornjng on eof my budgies sneezes a few times every morning, but do not worry about that as they do not sneeze again until the following morning.

What I am worried about is that the other is breathing faster than the other. The tail is also bobbing in a flicking motion everytime the bird takes a breath.

I am concerned, should I be?

Tail bobbing

When a bird is breathing fast and its tail is bobbing it means the bird most likely has an upper respiratory infection.

I would get your bird to a vet ASAP.

Dr B would not be able to tell you without examining the bird. You need to Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird to determine what is wrong with it.

If you are not feeding your bird a diet of 60 - 70% pellets, then it is possible your bird has a disease or illness due to the lack of nutrition. If you are adding vitamins to the food or water, it could be dying due to the vitamins being toxic and dangerous to their tiny systems.

I suggest you take this bird to the avian vet, and then switch your birds to a healthy pellet diet to prevent the other birds from dying at a young age.
