Tail feathers...

My parrot has been tearing her tail apart. Now there seems to be a tube like thing on one of her feathers. What could that be?

Bird chewing tail feathers

The tube-like thing is likely a new feather coming in. It is hard to say from your description if the bird is simply preening and helping new feathers come in or if it is picking at it's feathers due to something bothering it.

If your bird pulls out feathers and leaves bare spots, then please Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird to rule out infection and disease.
