Thanks Linda

People need to know this information and I will certainly be sharing it with other owners.

As for my bird, she seems to be making a recovery under the avian vets care

As Tracie said, your bird has been poisoned, and only an Avian Vet can help her, so do not delay getting her to an avian vet as she will die from this poison.

For anyone else reading this, ALL essential oils and most herbs are toxic for birds. Perfumes and air cleaners are also poison and this includes those that are time released or plugged into the wall or burned as candles. Anything with fumes is poison for birds. Always ask an Avian Vet before using something possibly toxic on or near your birds.Humans routinely poison the air they breathe in their homes by using these products. Children and pets suffer. It does not matter what the companies' who make them say. They are trying to make money, and do not really care about you or your family.

The Tea Tree oil is especially toxic and cannot be used on most animals and on humans either unless it is greatly watered down.

Use this Find an Avian Vet to find an avian vet right away.

Please look at our Toxic / Non-toxic for birds list page also to prevent this bird or future birds from being injured or killed.

Even air freshener or hair spray can kill birds.
