There is something weird on my bird.

My canary has a weird feather or grey thing that is sticking out an I dont know what to do.

Weird thing on bird.

Birds when they are growing new feathers they come in looking like a thin poky thing. This is a new feather coming in. New feathers that come in are covered in caratine to protect it as it grows into full length. These are called "pin feathers". Pin feathers should grow in the same color as the rest of it's feathers. If this is grey vs the same color as the rest of the bird, then an avian vet should be seen immediately.

Please ensure to take your feathered friend to the avian vet at least once a year for a well-visit. Birds will never tell you they are sick!

I think you are describing a new feather shaft. They are hard, because they are still full of blood and have a protective sheath. Eventually the sheath flakes off and the new feather unfurls.

If this is not a new feather, then please Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird to determine what this is.
