What Lynn said is all good, so read it and read it again.

YOUR FIRST TASK IS TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH AN AVIAN VET AND TAKE YOUR BIRD IN FOR A CHECKUP FOR INFECTIONS EITHER BACTERIAL OR VIRAL. If you did not take your bird into an Avian Vet when you got her, she may very well be sick and in need of an Avian vet's attention.

Birds' infections do not just go away, and they will catch any kind of bacterial or viral infection you may have. When you are sick, please mask up when feeding, watering and cleaning your bird.

So, take her to Avian vet--not a regular vet as they are not licensed to treat birds. Then do as Lynn said and make your new baby bird a part of your family. Birds are emotional creatures and live in large flocks in the wild. This means you are her flock now, and you must become her companion and friend.

If your bird is young, she is supposed to sleep for long periods of time, probably twelve hours. Birds do get sick and this can happen very easily. I suggest you take her to the vet and let her get a check-up.

Is your timneh eating? Is she part of the family? Is she off by herself alone in a room away from people? Are you spending enough time(8 hours a day) with her playing with her, talking with her? She sounds like she is depressed. Birds are like permanent 2 year olds. They need alot of attention and your personal time. I have a timneh also. He is located right in the main family area. I spend the majority of my time with him. Talking, socializing with him. He is my constant companion. Make sure she is getting enough sleep, cover her cage in a quiet area for sleeping at night. At least 10 hours a night. They need recovery time. Please write back and let me know how she is doing. I am really interested. LYNN
