Toe bleeding

by Rabbi Islam

My birds toe is bleeding after her leg got stuck with the door while I was closing it. I applied cornstarch. She was whining and after I put the cornstarch on her toe she stopped. She is hiding her toe in her stomach. The bleeding almost stopped. I see blood on her toe but no drops. What should I do?

bleeding toe

Your bird is in a lot of pain, and the bleeding will start again, especially as it will irritate her and she will pick at it.

Get the to an avian vet and they can do x-rays, check the wound and provide any treatment and medication the bird may require e.g. painkillers and anti-biotics.

Bird got foot caught in door
by: Tracie

Your bird may have a broken foot and may be in a lot of pain. Birds have hollow bones that break easily.

Please use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet for your bird so it can be examined and treated for pain and possible broken foot.
