Traveling with birds

I am looking for some tips on traveling with our Cockatiel. We usually only leave for a two or three nights, but want to start getting our feathered friend road ready.

I am not sure I will be too helpful, but here are my thoughts...

Familiar Cage with familiar toys.

Familiar perches.

Water from home, or whatever bottled water it is used to.

Plenty of food and maybe some yummy treats.

Any food it gets on a regular basis, you don't want it to decide not to eat when out of town.

If you cover your bird at night, bring THAT cover with you.

If the car will be chilly, bring a cover to cover the top and 3 sides of the cage for warmth. Leave room on the lower half for it to be able to see you of course.

Put something under the cage in the car to level it and strap it in like it is a child. You might have to protect the shoulder belt if the bird can chew on it.

I can't think of anything else. We sell great travel cages if you need one! :-)
