ulcers in green cheek conures?
I recently bought a green cheek conure from a specialized shop/breeder, who is still holding him, as he is not fully weened. When I went to visit, I had been told that he had developed a stomach ulcer because his nest mates had not been letting him eat (thus stomach acid was irritating his stomach lining) and they had noticed dark stool.
They had taken him to a vet, who gave him medicine and currently have him quarantined. He is still very energetic, appears healthy, is taking his medicine and food just fine, and his stool is now back to a healthy color.
They assure me that he will be fine, but I just want to make sure as I haven't been able to find much on ulcers in pet parrots. How do ulcers in parrots (partially in green cheeks) work? Will having this ulcer at a young age be detrimental to him, even though its being treated?
