umbrella cockatoos face swollen 33 year old m

I noticed yesterday his face was puffy around one side of his beak and under his eye a little. It doesnt seem to bother him to bad but he has scratched at it a little and there is now a raw spot under his eye.

The day I noticed it I had gave him a bath and he went and sat under his heat lamp to dry. The swelling is on the side that always faces the heat lamp but it really doesnt look like a burn, its not red or discolered at all really.

Also once a mounth I wash him with soup under his feathers on his back only, and that was the day I did it. Iv had him a couple years and its never been a problem. He also sneezes once in a while and then right after pickes his nose but its only once in awhile.

It whent away by the next day except for just alittle bubble on the skin around his beek. I ran my finger over some watery yellow stuff came out. He has been having alot of new feathers clot on that side of his face for some rerason and I pulled some out by mistake trying to pick the clot of the tip of them but this spot was on bare skin around his beek, I think it had something to do with his heat lamp but Ill bring him in if you think I should. He seems fine now, he never really acted different.

Dr. B suggests that you get your bird to an avian vet soon. Your bird needs to be examined to see what is causing this. It could be an infection.
