un hatched eggs

by Hassan
(Sydney NSW)

Hi, Im in need of help with my pair of eclectus parrots. I have had them for over a year. They are a very mature and healthy pair and about 32 days ago she laid 2 healthy large eggs. She gets very aggressive once we go near the box and attacks us if we open the nest box. However its been over 28 days and unfortunatly the eggs have not hatched. Im just confused now on what to do...should i take the eggs out? should i leave them with her or what do i do?

Any help would be appreciated.

cheers.

leave them

If you remove the eggs while she still has an interest in them you will only make her lay more eggs to replace her 'stolen' eggs. Best to leave them, she will eventually get tired of them, realise they will not hatch & reject them, then you can remove the eggs. The incubation period is ABOUT 28 days, not necessarily exactly 28 days. Give or take a few. If the eggs are not fertile she will leave them at the end of her incubation period.
