UVA/UVB Lighting for Parrots

How effective and necessary is it for a parrot to bask under bulbs containing the UVA/UVB spectrums? Would I specifically need an avian light or there are reptile lights in pet stores that are either 2.0 or 5.0 UVB with either 13 or 26W. I mean birds ARE reptiles, so I would assume these lights would be okay?? But is it really worth it either?

Use light specifically for birds

Birds are not reptiles. Although it has been proven that they are descendents of the dinosaurs. However, they need different care than reptiles. I recommend that you use a full spectrum light and lamp specifically for birds. ZooMed makes the best one.
