Wait another year?

I have been offered a just hatched male baby Eclectus. It will be hand raised by the breeder.

My question is in 12 months from now I'm going away for 3 months. I've been waiting for months for the breeder to have chicks, but now I'm worried that leaving a young bird at a bird 'kennel' or possible with house sitters will mean he will forget me and not be attached to me when I return. Am I over worried or should I hold off another year?

He won't forget you however I do recommend you wait until you've done your 3 month trip. 3 months is a very long time for a young bird to become 'unattached' to you & grow to get used to another type of home, whether it's a boarding place or some one else. Taking the bird back once you're back from holiday & him being a young age, he may also not react very well or accept it, making it harder for him to adjust to your home & you.
