Warm beak and feet.

by Rebeca
(Tampa, Florida)

Hi,I took my blue quaker to a bird store yesterday to get her wings and nails trimmed. When we got home I noticed that she kept lifting up her feet, I think it was hurting her. I also noticed her beak and her feel felt warm. My daughter just called me at work to tell me that the bird smelled like sausage and she wet her to bathe her and now the bird was shaking. I have no idea if this is something I should be concerned with (the warmness of the beak and feet) or if it is normal after nail trimming.

Thanks,
Rebeca

Bird with warm beak and feet
by: The Avian Vet

Pet stores are not an appropriate place to take your bird for grooming. You need to find an avian veterinarian that can groom your bird, and now you need your bird examined to see if there is something wrong. Improper handling can cause pain in the feet, and increased heat. Wetting the bird while it is not feeling well is only going to make things worse. You need to get to an avian veterinarian immediately.
