Weird bump/lump on the back of parakeet's head

Bump on parakeet's head

Bump on parakeet's head

There's a weird bump/lump on the back of my poor parakeet's head. I don't know what it is and how it got there. I want to take him to a vet, but I doubt that my mother would allow that :( My sister and her boyfriend probably can't take him either, because of the expenses. But can you identify what it is? I'm sorry if it's too hard to see :c

This looks serious, and you will have to take your bird to an Avian Vet to have this examined, diagnosed and treated. When we acquire birds, we also have to understand they will sometimes need to go to a bird doctor for illness or injury. If left as is, this will become more and more serious, resulting in your bird's death. Do Not give any over the counter meds especially those found in pet stores because until this is properly diagnosed, you are working in the dark. See if you can get someone to help you becauwe this is a serious situation which will not get better until bird has been seen by an Avian Vet in your driving area.

Please remember, when getting birds, that they do get sick or injured and will have to go to avian vet from time to time. We recommend once a year exams to make sure there are no illnesses being hidden. Your bird is in pain and has to go to the bird doctor. Please explain to your family that bird is in pain and suffering and needs to be properly treated so it can get well again.

Very sorry for your troubles, and advising you to let an avian vet take care of this is the only help we can offer you. It is illegal to not provide pets with medical services and you can sometimes work out payment plans to help pay for the services and medicines, so at least try and get your bird help. If this one dies because of lack of medical help, DO NOT GET another bird because they all get sick or injured, and providing medical services is the law of man and is the compassionate, loving action taken by a person who loves their pets which I know you do.

Mysterious bump on parakeet head
by: The Avian Vet

It is impossible to diagnose this from a picture. It could be cancerous, an injury, or an infection. You will want to take him to see an avian veterinarian.
