African grey with growth

I have recently inherited a 3 year old African Grey and he's got this weird looking growth either side of his beak, it seems to grow and its fallen off a couple of times, just to grow back again. He also stopped talking all of a sudden about a year ago and he's also had watery poo for roughly the same amount of time. He's just started to lose some feathers too but I'm sure he's not plucking them, what could it be?

My African grey has the very same thing, did you ever find out what was causing it or what is was as I still haven't found a solution to the problem and any info would be much appreciated.

Editor's note: Did you read Dr B's post? It could be a number of things, so you are not going to find out by reading here, you need to have your bird examined by an avian vet.

The growth could be a papillomavirus lesion, a squamous cell carcinoma, or an infections. It may or may not be associated with him not talking as much. Feather loss may be molting or plucking. Your bird needs to be seen by an avian veterinarian ASAP. He is showing multiple signs of illness, especially not talking.

Dr B will eventually answer this, but you really need to go ahead and make an appointment with an avian vet, because Dr B can not prescribe over the Internet.
