I've been told there is such a thing as an African Grey Conure. Is there such a bird?

"Is there such a bird?"

Well, that was your Q, & it got answered, even though you just stated you knew there was no such thing :/...

Regarding so called Conure/African grey
by: RumbaRue

Yes I really knew there was no such bird and this lady isn't very informed about birds. I've got 5 birds, two parakeets, one cockatiel, one Mustached parakeet and a Nanday Conure.
Trust me I've done a ton of reading about all kinds of birds, plus watching birds live on the Internet.

AG & conure

African grey parrot & conure are 2 different parrot species :) And there is no x breed of them (to my knowledge).

Nanday conure is only ONE type of conure. There are a lot more than that & there are 2 african greys, congo & timneh.

Whoever told you that is telling porkies :)))

African Grey Conure

There is a Congo African Grey and a Nanaday Conure, perhaps names got mixed up to sound like African Grey Conure. Two different birds, African Greys are much bigger than conures. Conures are a little bigger and plumper than a Cockatiel. Check out the Parrot Profiles to the left of the posts under the Information section and it will tell you about the two kinds of African greys and the many types of conures. Unless someone cross bred the two, there is no such bird.
