What kind of parrot is this and about how old is she?

I'm trying to find out the type of parrot I've been given and about how old she is. She is from Olancho, Honduras and was a gift. The giver believes her to be a guacamaya, which I'm fairly certain she is not, and very young, which I think is accurate though she does have all her feathers.

Possibly a pionus parrot?
by: Tracie

Possibly a baby White Capped Pionus, but missing the eyering. http://www.parrot-and-conure-world.com/pionus.html and http://www.avesint.com/wcp.html for lots of pictures.

It looks a little like the Hispaniolan Amazon Parrot too, but I can't see it's belly and I think it still should have white around the eyes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hispaniolan_Amazon

I think she is some kind of Conure and is VERY young. You can do a search on the internet about Conures and you may just find a picture of her. http://www.parrot-and-conure-world.com/conures.html You can use this resource to find out about the Conures and what they need to be happy and healthy. Congratulations on your new baby bird and read up on how to care for her properly and what she needs as for nutrition. She also needs to be examined by an Avian Vet ONLY in your driving area because the young birds are very susceptible to contracting infections of all kinds.

Keep in touch and thanks for writing,
Linda
