What type of illness does my parakeet have and how do I treat it?

My parakeet is sleeping a lot, not eating or drinking because when she does it appears as if she is about to throw up. I have seen these symptoms before and have taken some of my parakeets to veterinarians; but this time I just don't have the financial ability to do so; and even when I did take my parakeets to the veterinarians they still died in a short time after.
Please help me find some solution to helping my parakeet possibly get better; also her stool is dark and watery. She is special to me and the second longest living bird we had; I want her to be able to live out her full 10 or 12 years (I think thats how long parakeets live) she is about 7 or 8 now.
Thank you.

I just got my bird and I noticed it doesn't make noise but when I talk to it she seems like she wants to talk is this normal :/

Editor's note: If you want people to see and answer, you need to post a question, not an answer here to another question, at Parrot Questions

You will need to Find an Avian Vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be.

Today After school, i noticed my bird was on the floor of her cage with her eyes closed. after a while, she opened her wings and she got stuck in a position. after 20 or 30 minutes she seemed to get weaker and weaker, and after she just died. why did she die? i have no clue why. i only had her for 3 or 2 months and this really broke my heart, and i will like to know why before my other bird has the same problem.

Editor's note: You answer this person with a question. Please post your question as a new question under Parrot Questions. You need to take the bird for a necropsy to find out the cause of death.

a vet?
by: Anonymous

people ask you for help because they can't take the bird to a vet for some reason at this time and your answer is always...take them to a vet?

Editor's note: Would you rather they treat something that is NOT wrong with their bird and let the bird suffer and die instead? Treating the wrong thing, just makes the bird suffer longer and possibly die.

Lump on Wing
by: Anonymous

My bird had a lump appear on one of his wings and now he's got another on the other wing. Otherwise, he seems fairly healthy. How is your bird doing? Did you ever find out what this is?

What to do?
by: Anonymous

HI! I have a parakeet, and I just noticed today that he has a lump on the right side sticking out of his wing, so I am wondering what this is about and what I should do? I want to know is it something serious or what? Please get back to me thank you?

Editors note: Nobody will be able to answer your question, because you posted your question as an answer to someone else's question. My answer for you, if you find this, is to take your bird to an avian vet. In the future, please post your questions under Parrot Questions as a new question so people can find them and answer them.

A parakeet illness suggestion
by: Laura

If your parakeet is acting unusual like it is not suppose to do you need to add another item in its cage. Something that your parakeet can reach and chew on for a while. If your parakeet is acting unusual it is eather sad board or lonely. If you can not get another bird add a mirror for its lonelyness. Make sure your parakeet is daily fed and watered to keep a healthy diet. Sometimes they can get tired of eating the same thing and need a new recipe to try on. Garenteed to work!

Sick Bird
by: The Vet

The only thing you can do at home is put a heating pad on the cage, and cover the cage to keep the heat in. The temperature should be 90-95ºF. The dark stools are an indication she is not eating. She is sleeping more because she feels bad and does not have the energy to do anything else.

Avian veterinarians can do miraculous things to help birds survive disease, but you have to get them in before it is too late. The time to take them in (is before they are sick to screen for problems) is at the first signs of illness. The longer you wait the less likely they survive. The description of your bird is serious. She is not going to get better on her own.
