The type of parrot
by: Sandra D Singh

Hi there,

As I've suggested before it's a Blue-fronted Amazon (Amazona Aestiva) also called the Turquoise-fronted Amazon and Blue-fronted Parrot, is a South American species of Amazon parrot and one of the most common Amazon parrots kept in captivity as a pet or companion parrot. Its common name is derived from the distinctive blue marking on its head just above its beak.

You have an Blue-Fronted Amazon, or also called, Amazon Blue Front Parrot.

The blue surrounding the face, accented by the yellow, green bodied, with traces of colors on their wings, and a beautiful colored tail which you can see when they stretch it out.

I have the same breed of parrot. They are great parrots to have in my opinion. They love people and attention. Amazons Typically love to sing songs their humans teach them!

However, Amazons are known for being noisy and squawking loudly, especially when they want positive attention.

They may not be an African Grey, however they are still brilliant little birds. Easily trained for tricks, and talking. Amazons require a couple hours each day training or playing with their humans, but they don't demand nearly as much time as a Grey would.

Please read up on the breed of your bird, get to know what he requires, and how to care for his breed. Believe it or not, all breeds of birds require different things.
Then take the time to get to KNOW your bird, and adjust from there.

Remember to respect the bird at all times. Only positive interactions! Otherwise he will develop bad habbits. First rule about parrots, no matter how tame you think they are, they are still wild animals, and retain 100% of their wild instincts. You remember this, and I can assure you less bites will happen!
Always socialize your bird, make sure he has plenty of toys, my birds have each about 10 toys per cage inside. A bored, lonely bird WILL pluck!

Good luck!
