Whats the best way to clean and sanitize a used cage?

by Melanie
(Texas)

Hi I am preparing to welcome a sun conure to our home. I purchased a used cage and need to clean and sanitize it before bringing him home. Whats the best way to do that? I dont want to use any harmful chemicals that could hurt him.
Also whats the best way to introduce him to a new environment? We have two dogs at home.

Thanks so much
Melanie

Pet Focus to sanitize
by: Trish

We also use the Pet Focus. What a wonderful product and it works so well. I don't have to worry about it harming my bird. I can even spray on a paper towel and wipe up messes on the playstand with the bird right there. GREAT PRODUCT!!

Pet focus for sanitizing bird cages
by: Tracie

We use Pet Focus non-toxic cleanser for sanitizing bird cages and everything in our house. It kills just about every bacteria and virus.

We spray it on and let it sit for about 10 minutes and then wipe it off. It is so safe that you don't even have to rinse it! If the bird licks a bar that did not get rinsed, it will not harm the bird.

We love this stuff!
