why hand reared parrot suddenly died?

by Calum Williamson
(Shetland Isles, Scotland)

I have been hand rearing a baby lovebird since it was 7 days old and suddenly at three weeks old it suddenly died. I was shocked as an hour before it was feeding and perfectly healthy. What could have been the main causes of death?

baby bird suddenly dying
by: Tracie

I am so sorry for your loss. Dr B can not help, because he would need the bird to do a necropsy. I suggest you take the bird to an avian vet for a necropsy so that you don't pass along a disease and so you can make sure other babies don't end up dying too.
