Why is my hahn's macaw nippy?

I have had my hahn's macaw for 5 months now, he is about one year old. I've noticed that he had been getting nippier and nippier.I purchased him from a pet store and he was handled by alot of people, which I think he didn't like too much because he is very shy. I've also noticed that the red on his wings is coming out more and more. I was wondering if there was a special trick to stop him from biting every part of our hands and especially our face and neck when he is perched on us.
Thank you for any suggestions.

Your bird just needs time to get to know you and you him. Study his body language and learn what he does and doesn't like, so you can respect the times he wants to be left alone or is scared of something.

We have some training material on our Parrot Training page that may be helpful in training the bird to have a different behavior than biting.
