why is my parrots feathers turning brown

Feather and skin condition is directly related to what a bird is eating. Avian Vets recommend Harrisons' organic pellets, and it and a few other good ones are found here.

Your bird will have to be taken to be examined by an Avian Vet in your driving area to rule out other physical causes like infections or problems with liver, kidneys or thyroid.

Birds have to eat high quality diets with NO people food or drink ever. They also have to be seen by an avian vet anytime they have something wrong with them from injuries to infections, long nails and beaks. Never give over the counter drugs and never go to a pet store and ask them what you should do because they don't know.

Thanks for writing and good luck,
Linda

Brown feathers can be anything.

What kind of bird is it, do you have a picture? Are you bathing the bird regularly to keep the feathers in good condition. Are you feeding the bird food to high in fats or oils?
