Will a GCC and Cockatiel get along?

by Livy

Pineapple Green Cheek Conure

Pineapple Green Cheek Conure

I have a pineapple green cheek, who is a male. I am going to get a bird to keep him company, not in the same cage though. Will he get along with a cockatiel?

Will a GCC and Cockatiel get along?

It would be better for you to consider another Conure because the Conures are more aggressive birds than the docile Cockatiels which could cause some problems.

Make sure you always keep them in separate cages because you cannot breed two different Conures together as the babies are called Hybrids, and there are all kinds of problems coming out the Hybrid breeding of any and all species of birds.

So, you could get another kind of Conure so you have a variety of color and just keep an eye on them when outside of cage until you know if they are going to get along. This is true for any kinds of birds together as all birds don't like each other. I think you'd do better with another Conure though because the Cockatiel and Conure are just too different to be good friends.

Cockatiel and Green Cheek Conure being friends

It is possible they will get along, but only time will tell. I have even had birds of the same species not get along. You will just need to keep close supervision for a time to make sure they prefer each other's company.
