Macaw

Macaw

O.K, so I recently recieved a male Macaw for my birthday but I already had a Bellied conure. Their cages are taking up too much space so i was wondering will they both get along while being in one big cage? Also, my Macaw is a bit aggressive.

Sharing cage
by: Anonymous

First, not sure if you know this, but if the photo you provided is your bird, it is neither a macaw or conure.. It is an Amazon Parrot. But regardless, two birds should never be housed together who are of such different species and sizes. The larger bird has every ability to seriously injure or kill the smaller bird. Even if they get along outside of the cage in a play area, doesnt necessarily mean they will get along in a cage. Whoever is more dominant will probably guard food, water, toys, etc. Maybe you can consider getting a large cage that has a divider, that way it saves space and keeps each bird safe from the other.

putting a conure and macaw together

They may get along but should never live together. The macaw would probably one day kill the conure. I am so glad you asked before trying this. Sometimes even two conures can't share a cage without fighting and injuring each other.
