Worried about my bird

I have a eclectic parrot (female) and for the last 2 1/2 weeks, she goes to the bottom of her cage in the corner with her tail feathers in the air pressed up against the corner...Should I worry?

Yes, you have reason to worry. It sounds like your bird may be eggbound and this is a life threatening situation. You did not state how old your Eclectus is so I'm not sure about if she is old enough to lay eggs or not.

I suggest you take her to an Avian Vet ONLY in your area to be examined to see if she has an egg trying to come out. In any event, she needs to be examined right away. Birds can die being eggbound because sometimes the egg bursts inside them causing massive infection and death. If she is not eggbound, then something else is wrong.

Be sure to have her examined by an avian vet only because dog and cat vets know nothing about birds and are not even licensed to treat them which means they will do more harm than good.

Let us know what avian vet has to say and thanks for writing.
