Birds scream and make other vocalizations for many reasons. They can be hungry, bored, sad, angry, sick. They make happy sounds when they are happy. Is your bird being fed properly? Is his cage large enough for him? Does he have a lot of toys to play with, and lastly, do you play with your bird several times a day and talk and sing to him? Parrots need to be eating an organic pelleted diet for optimum nutrition. They need their toys changed out once a month as they get bored with them. They need cages big enough so they can spread their out fully and flap. They need the attention of their human caretakers in the form of petting, talking to, singing to, just generally being treated like a friend as you would any other pet. Birds feel all the emotions humans do. They feel physical and emotional just like humans do. They are very special creatures, and we must honor them when we are lucky enough to have them in our lives.

There are some training materials on this site on the Parrot Training page, so you may wish to look at them. If any of his needs are NOT being met, then he will scream until they are.For other information about birds, either buy a book or two or go on the internet and find out more about your bird. You are lucky to have him, so make sure you take the best care of him that you can. If your bird is sick, you need to take him to an Avian (bird) vet to have him checked for infections. Sick birds will not be happy birds.

Linda
