Yellow fronted green cheeked conure + hair = tangled parrot!

Why is my Yellow fronted green cheek conure always in my hair? Literally! She always wants to be around my head and on my shoulders. And when i watch T.V. She climbs to the top of the couch abouve my head. Its hard to train her on my shoulder lol :) I have to put my hair up so that she doesn't get tangled. But when I convince her to get off of my shoulder, she does just fine... If anyone knows why, i would love to know! thanks :D

Conure in hair

My parrot likes to preen my hair because I think it's like preening feathers to them. My hair is short, so it's not a problem. She doesn't do it often because I don't let her. Sometimes she sits on my shoulder and nibbles my ear and if she gets nippy, I get her off and put her back on her cage.
You have to train your bird not to get in your hair, the more you let her do it, the more she thinks it's okay. When she tries to get on your head, just remove her, tell her "no" and put her where you want her to be. You could also divert her attention with a toy, food or lots of petting and praise. Birds are smart and know how to get away with a lot of mischief. You have to train your bird, not let her train you.
