watery bird droppings

Hello, About 10 days ago my husband brought home a zebra finch, given to him by his friend. The bird's cage looked like it had not been cleaned in over a year, the bottom of the cage was full of poop. I cleaned the cage and put tray and perches in hot water to disinfect. Two days ago I noticed that the finch has watery yellowish/greenish droppings. He is very active and his daily activities have not changed, he's still singing, flying, and jumping from perch to perch as if everything is ok. His daily diet has not changed and I change his water and food daily. Is my finch sick?

Bird with watery droppings
by: The Avian Vet

From the picture, it looks like your bird is not eating enough. It may also be more serious such as liver disease, or other health problem. This bird needs to be seen by an avian veterinarian.

Your bird is sick and will have to be diagnosed and treated by an Avian Vet ONLY in your driving area. He probably has an infection, and this cannot be treated until you know what it is, so take him to an Avian Vet and give NO over the counter meds or home remedies. Until you know what kind of infection this is, it cannot be treated, and your bird will die if you delay taking him to a licensed and trained Avian Vet.
