Zebra finch hole in the beak

by David
(Michigan)

My zebra finches, 3 of them out of 8 have developed a hole in the middle of their beak. Another one is beginning to develop one. These are the younger finches in the flock. Their diet have not changed. We have had finches for over five years and this is the first time we've seen this. Help!

Birds with holes in beaks
by: The Avian Vet

This could be caused by mites or nutritional problems. It may be trauma, mate aggression, or genetic. I recommend that you have them checked by an avian veterinarian. Find an Avian Vet
